Ojibway Nation of Saugeen Gas Station and General Store Development – Public Comments Invited
June 15, 2026 – Indigenous Services Canada must determine whether the proposed Gas Station and General Store Development, located in Ojibway Nation of Saugeen is likely to cause significant adverse environmental effects.
To help inform this determination, Indigenous Services Canada is inviting comments from the public respecting that determination. All comments received will be considered public and may be posted online.

The Proposed Project
Ojibway Nation of Saugeen intends to refurbish an existing 200 m² building at the intersection of Highway 599 and the community access road into a gas station and general store. Work will involve renovating the interior of the building to serve as a store front, grading and expanding the 4,500 m² lot, and completing the engineered design and installation of two - 7,500L above ground storage tanks for gasoline and diesel storage with a fueling island for gasoline.
