The Proposed Project

The Montreal Port Authority (MPA) plans to carry out annual maintenance dredging at its berths in Montreal for the period from 2026 to 2030. The work consists of the localized removal of sediment accumulations identified through annual bathymetric surveys, in order to maintain the depths required for navigation and consistent with nautical charts. The work areas are identified annually and are limited and dispersed.

The work will be conducted using a dredging barge, with disposal of dredged material in open water. Each campaign will take place in the fall, over a period of approximately 3 to 5 working days, on a continuous basis (day and night). Environmental monitoring and surveillance programs will be implemented during the work to ensure compliance with applicable requirements, the implementation of mitigation measures, and their effectiveness.
