The Proposed Project
The Muscowpetung Saulteaux Nation is proposing to build a new school to support K to 12 students. The project will include construction of a new school, a land based learning outbuilding, parking lot, drop off area, generator and garage, playgrounds, and sports fields. The new school will be 3,316 square metres in size over two floors and will accommodate 187 students. The proposed site of the new school is approximately 4 km southeast of the band office on cultivated lands currently used for agricultural purposes. The site location will require the installation of new power lines, natural gas line, communication lines (data/phone), the school structure, a land based learning outbuilding, and generator building.
Site preparation activities, which will include all site servicing, will be completed as part of the construction phase. It is not expected that any hazardous waste aside from typical construction waste will be created during construction.
