The Proposed Project

The Department of National Defence (DND) is proposing a project. The Department of National Defence proposes the Strategic Tanker Transport Capability Main Operating Base West project. The goal of the project is to provide new infrastructure to support the Royal Canadian Air Forces CC330 Husky fleet, replacing the current fleet of CC-150 Polaris aircraft. The CC-330 Husky will provide the RCAF with increased flexibility to fulfill a variety of air mobility missions in support of operations and training activities within Canada, its Arctic region, and around the world, including air-to-air refueling, passenger transport, aeromedical evacuation, and strategic transport of Government of Canada officials. Project activities include construction of an apron for aircraft parking; a hangar facility for operations, logistics/warehousing and maintenance; space for training, administration and vehicular parking, and potentially support infrastructure for refueling/defueling and cargo handling.
