Sunrise Expansion Program
In accordance with the Impact Assessment Act, and as set out in its report dated 30 January 2026, the Commission of the Canada Energy Regulator has determined that the portion of the Sunrise Expansion Program located on federal lands is not likely to cause significant adverse environmental effects.
In making its determination with respect to the project on federal lands, the Commission considered the factors listed in subsection 84(1) of the Impact Assessment Act. The proponent's mitigation measures can be found in its project application and related filings on the Commission's online public registry at this location: https://apps.cer-rec.gc.ca/REGDOCS/Item/View/4456083.
The Governor in Council has 90 days from 30 January 2026 to make a decision on the project under section 186 of the Canadian Energy Regulator Act, unless the Minister of Energy and Natural Resources extends this legislated time limit to do so.
