The proposed work focuses on the development and/or equipping of functional and sustainable market garden areas, aiming to improve agricultural production, food security, and the economic empowerment of beneficiaries. It includes all the interventions necessary to establish suitable, resilient, and environmentally friendly agricultural infrastructure. These interventions (development or equipping) of the market garden areas will follow the steps below, depending on the type of intervention required at each site:

1. Preparatory work and technical studies

This initial phase will include the identification and delimitation of the sites for the market garden areas, the assessment of water and irrigation needs, and the technical design of the structures (fences, irrigation networks, basins, fodder, and reservoirs), if applicable.

2.Installation of Protective Fencing

To secure the boundaries of the market gardens, wire mesh fencing will be supplied and installed, along with metal posts and access gates. Corners and vulnerable points will be reinforced to prevent intrusions.

3. Construction of Hydraulic Structures

This component includes the excavation and construction of water storage basins, the creation of wells or boreholes equipped with appropriate pumping systems, the construction and installation of water reservoirs of suitable capacity, mounted on metal supports approximately 5 meters high, ensuring sufficient pressure for gravity irrigation, and associated masonry and civil engineering work.

4. Installation of Irrigation Systems

The irrigation work will include the supply and installation of PVC pipes, the installation of site-appropriate irrigation systems, the installation of valves, taps, filters, and regulating devices, and testing and adjustments to ensure optimal network operation.

5. Environmental and Sustainability Measures

The work incorporates practices that limit soil and water resource degradation, construction waste management, protection of surrounding sensitive areas, and the integration of water conservation solutions.

6. Commissioning and Capacity Building

The final phase will include operational testing of all equipment, the official commissioning of the market garden areas, training for beneficiaries in the use, maintenance, and management of the infrastructure, and skills transfer to ensure the long-term sustainability of the projects.
