The Proposed Project

The installation of a new watermain between the water treatment plant and the new recreation centre building. The purpose of the project is to provide fire protection to the recreation centre, and water service to 16 houses along the route.

The project will include 625 m of 200 mm insulated HDPE watermain piping with a 50 mm insulated recirculation pipe in the same trench, along the community access road. There will be 16 insulated water service lines installed off of the watermain to the existing houses, with diameters of 25 mm. There will be 5 fire hydrants installed along the route.

The watermain will connect to an existing watermain pipe near the WTP site. Piping will be installed by open cut trenching and bedrock blasting. There is estimated to be 1,300 m3 of bedrock removed from the trench. The existing holding tanks at the residences along the route will be abandoned in place by draining and removing the pumps.
