Today's date – The Montreal Port Authority (MPA) and Transport Canada (TC) must determine whether the proposed project "Deployment of three variable message signs at the Port of Montreal (Québec)" is likely to cause significant adverse environmental effects.
To help inform this determination, the MPA and TC are inviting comments from the public respecting that determination. All comments received will be considered public [and may be posted online]. For more information, individuals should consult the Privacy Notice on the Canadian Impact Assessment Registry (CIAR) website.

The Proposed Project
The MPA plans to install three (3) variable message signs within the port territory, between sections 53 and 71 (Mercier-Hochelaga-Maisonneuve borough).
In general, the planned works can be summarized as follows:
- Excavation and installation of foundations and electrical conducts;
- Installation of supporting structures;
- Mounting of variable message signs;
- Electrical and telecommunication connections.
The works are scheduled to begin in early 2026.
