Proposed Project
Black Lake First Nation is proposing the construction of a new 3 bay firehall which will house all firefighting equipment needs of the community. The project consists on the construction of new 455 sq.m. building, and landscaping of the surrounding site (approximately 1.5 ha of site development). The fire hall will be situated along the access road at the northern entrance to the community. While the general location along the access road has been confirmed, the Nation has not yet determined whether the facility will be constructed on the east or west side of the road.
The proposed project sites considered are largely bordered by lands in a natural state. Site development will include clearing and grubbing, topsoil stripping, and excavation to footing depths. The building will be serviced by water, sewer, power, and communication lines. Water and sewer servicing alignment will be tied into the existing mains located within the adjacent roadway. Power and communication lines and routing will be installed by the respective utility companies. All anticipated waste generated from construction activities will be responsibly handled and disposed of to a designated facility for such materials.
