Public Notice
December 11, 2025 – Innovation, Science and Economic Development Canada must determine whether the proposed project is likely to cause significant adverse environmental effects.
To help inform this determination, Innovation, Science and Economic Development Canada is inviting comments from the public respecting that determination. All comments received will be considered public and may be posted online.
Written comments must be submitted by January 10, 2026 to contact identified on the project page.
The Proposed Project
Telus Communications Inc. plans to install fiber optic cabling, for Internet purposes, to forty four (44) residential homes in the West Moberly First Nations, in the Peace River Country in British Columbia. The project involves the installation of approximately 25 km of underground or aerial fiber optic cable as follows:
- Ten (10) km along W Moberley Rd in the West Moberly First Nations.
- Fifteen (15) km along Boucher Lake Rd and Don Philips way in the East Moberly First Nations.
The cable will be buried by directional drilling, trenching, or using existing conduits, or a combination of these methods in existing roadway alignments, or will be suspended on support structures to connect to residential homes and businesses.
