Camp Fortune: Ski Lighting Project
Notice of Determination
November 10, 2025 – The Business Development Bank of Canada (BDC) has determined that the proposed ski lighting project is not likely to cause significant adverse environmental effects.
This determination was based on a consideration of the following factors:
- impacts on rights of Indigenous peoples;
- Indigenous knowledge;
- community knowledge;
- comments received from the public; and
- technically and economically feasible mitigation measures.
Mitigation measures will be implemented to address potential adverse effects on the following components of the environment:
- migratory birds;
- species at risk;
- groundwater;
- surface water;
- soil quality;
- air quality;
- vegetation;
- human health;
- archaeological resources; and
- historical resources.
Some of the mitigation measures taken into account for this determination are:
- Any wildlife incidentally encountered during construction will not be knowingly harmed;
- Clearing trees and vegetation should occur outside the breeding bird season; and
- Restrict the movement of vehicles and machinery to the work areas and designated access points.
BDC is satisfied that that the carrying out of the project is not likely to cause significant adverse environmental effects.
Therefore, BDC may provide financial assistance to enable the project to be carried out in whole or in part.
