Construction of Building #16 at the Federal Training Center in Laval – Public Comments Invited

June 07, 2022 – The Correctional Service Canada must determine whether the proposed Construction of Building #16 at the Federal Training Center in Laval located in Laval QC is likely to cause significant adverse environmental effects.

To help inform this determination, the Correctional Service Canada is inviting comments from the public respecting that determination. All comments received will be considered public and may be posted online.

The Proposed Project

Correctional Service Canada plans to construct a new minimum security living unit (Building #16) at the Federal Training Center in Laval to replace Blocks 6 and 7, which are being deconstructed. The main activities related to this project are: preparation of the site; supply, transportation and storage of materials and equipment; excavation and management of soils (contaminated and non-contaminated); pumping and management of excavation water (if required); relocation of existing underground networks in conflict with the construction of the building; connection of the building to existing underground networks; construction of foundations; backfilling; construction of the building itself; site restoration.
