The Proposed Project
The Waste Disposal Site (WDS) in Natuashish, NL is nearing the end of its life and requires modification and expansion to extend its use at the current location. The project will involve repairing and upgrading existing infrastructure at the WDS and developing a Construction and Demolition Waste Disposal Site. Activities include, fence repairs, grading of existing WDS to extend vertical use, maintenance of fire breaks and stormwater management. The WDS will also include a lateral extension on the northwest side of approximately 100m by 210 m, which will require grubbing and the extension of the fence and fire breaks.
The non-hazardous waste from construction and demolition will be diverted to a former quarry that will be fenced and set up to receive this waste. This will also extend the life of the main WDS.
