19 Wing Situational Awareness (SA) Camera System Modification – Canadian Forces Base Comox
September 24, 2025 — The Department of National Defence must decide whether the proposed project is likely to cause significant adverse environmental effects.
To help inform this decision, the Department of National Defence is inviting comments from the public on the project and its potential effects on the environment. The Proposed Project
The Department of National Defence (DND) is proposing a project. This project is planned to begin spring of 2026 and be completed by a civilian contractor on behalf of DND, Canadian Forces Base (CFB) Comox, Real Property Operations. The Project will involve the replacement of 12 existing Camera systems with new situational awareness (SA) Camera systems and the installation of 20 new SA Camera systems at CFB Comox, and the installation of 16 new SA Cameras at His Majesty's Canadian Ship (HMCS) Quadra. DND is pursuing a modernization of the existing SA Cameras to provide updated security and safety to CFB Comox and HMCS Quadra and is in line with DND objectives.
