Public Notice
August 26, 2025 – The Canada Infrastructure Bank must determine whether the proposed project is likely to cause significant adverse environmental effects.
To help inform this determination, the Canada Infrastructure Bank is inviting comments from the public respecting that determination. All comments received will be considered public and may be posted online. Written comments must be submitted by September 26, 2025 to the contact identified on the project page.
New Fibre Installation
The project involves the construction and operation of a broadband fibre-optic network to service approximately 789 households throughout the reserve lands of Walpole Island First Nation. The project will include last-mile network to improve broadband access within the reserve lands and will predominately use Ethernet Passive Optical Network (EPON) technology to deliver high-speed internet. The last mile network is supported by either existing or new 10 Gbps backbone connections to Cogeco's core IP backbone network.
