August 21, 2025 – Indigenous Services Canada must determine whether the proposed construction of the Micro Subdivision in Niisaachewan Anishinaabe Nation is likely to cause significant adverse environmental effects.

To help inform this determination, Indigenous Services Canada is inviting comments from the public respecting that determination. All comments received will be considered public. For more information, individuals should consult the Privacy Notice on the Registry website.

The Proposed Project

Niisaachewan Anishinaabe Nation is proposing a micro subdivision development project. The project involve grading the housing lots, constructing of a granular roadway and turnaround, constructing drainage ditches along the roadway, and installation of water, sewer, and hydro infrastructure to the housing lots. Physical activities include bedrock blasting, land grading, road construction, and utility installation. The footprint of the micro subdivision is approximately 12,500 m2 with 3,570 m2 for road and driveways, 5,150 m2 for lot grading, and 1,230 m of water and sewer piping along the roads and on cleared lots.
