YBW 3X Hanger - Public Comments Invited

August 12, 2025 - The Calgary Airport Authority must determine whether the proposed YBW 3X Hanger, located in Springbank, Alberta is likely to cause significant adverse environmental effects.

To help inform this determination, the Calgary Airport Authoirty is inviting comments from the public respecting that determination. All comments received will be considered public and may be posted online.

The Proposed Project

Lot 97 at Springbank Airport intended construction of a 16,000sq/ft Hangar. This hangar will be constructed to support the maintenance, storage, and protection of aircraft. The project will begin with site preparation, including earthworks and foundation laying to support the heavy structural loads. The hangar will be constructed with a steel frame for clear-span interiors to accommodate various aircraft without internal columns obstructing movement.
Key elements include (3) bays 5,300 square feet each, (3) 60' bi-fold doors, long lasting standing seam roof, reinforced flooring to withstand aircraft weight, and integrated systems for lighting and climate control. The project also involves utility connections, (electrical, gas, water) drainage, and adjacent taxiway access to the airside tarmac. Towards the completion of construction airport specified pavement and signage will be installed to adhere to airport authority standards.
