August 8, 2025 – Innovation, Science and Economic Development Canada must determine whether the proposed project is likely to cause significant adverse environmental effects.

To help inform this determination, Innovation, Science and Economic Development Canada is inviting comments from the public respecting that determination. All comments received will be considered public and may be posted online.

Written comments must be submitted by September 7, 2025 to contact identified on the project page.

The Proposed Project

Bell Canada plans to install submarine fiber optic cabling, for Internet purposes, to residential homes in Bob Lake, Minen Lake, Little Dudmon Lake, Drag Lake, Kennisis Lake, Mitchell Lake, Mile Lake, Burnt River and Koshlong Lake. The project involves the submarine fibre optic installation of 0.49 km in Bob Lake, 0.66 km in Minen Lake, 1.2 km in Little Dudmon Lake, 0.78 km in Drag Lake, 0.14 km in Kennisis Lake, 0.76 km in Mitchell Lake, 0.18 km in Mile Lake, 0.15 km in Burnt River and 1.85 km in Koshlong Lake.
