The Proposed Project

Kainai Land Management has contracted ATCO to install gas service to the new Twin Rinks. A new gas main and service line (60mm Polyethylene distribution gas main) will be installed at a consistent alignment and depth of 0.8-1.2m deep for 330m, and approximately 80m of a service line to Twin Rinks. Methods of installations will include trenching, as well as directional drilling and use of hydrovac. Installation of services will require 6m wide alignment.

The project will involve tying into the existing gas main. This will involve surveying, locates, construction, gassing up the new gas line, and planning/staking. The lay down area will be on an area that is already disturbed. Any disturbed land will be remediated, which includes reseeding, repaving, etc. All open excavation holes will be fenced when no one is present within the site. All vehicles will be driven in or towed in on trailers, refueling will not be required on the site premises.

The project is entirely on previously disturbed land and there are no water bodies within 30 m of the project location. As the project is on disturbed land, there is not anticipated to be impacts to birds, wildlife, or aquatic species.
