Red Earth Cree Nation Daycare and Head Start Building - Public Comments invited

July 9, 2025 - Indigenous Services Canada must determine whether the proposed Red Earth Cree Nation Daycare and Head Start Building, to be located on Red Earth Cree Nation, is likely to cause significant adverse environmental effects. To help inform this determination, Indigenous Services Canada is inviting comments from the public respecting that determination.

Proposed Project

Red Earth Cree Nation is proposing to construct a new Daycare and Head Start building . The new building will located on currently undisturbed lands,  adjacent to the existing Health Center. This space will accommodate early childhood learning services for approximately 92 children, ranging from infants to preschool age. The building is anticipated to have an area of about 1,200 m2. The development will require new water and sewer services, which will be connected to nearby existing services. Power will be accessed from power lines adjacent to the proposed site.
