Notice of Determination

Toronto, Ontario; 2025-05-26 – Greater Toronto Airports Authority (GTAA) has determined that the proposed Etobicoke Creek Pedestrian Trail Repair is not likely to cause significant adverse environmental effects, as long as all mitigation measures are applied.

This determination was based on a consideration of the following factors:

· Impacts on rights of Indigenous peoples.

· Indigenous knowledge.

· Community knowledge.

· Comments received from the public; and

· Technically and economically feasible mitigation measures.

 

Mitigation measures taken into account for this determination are:

General

  • All work to be conducted in compliance with the Toronto Pearson Airport Construction Code.
  • All activities at the airport are conducted in an environmentally responsible manner as per Toronto Pearson's Environmental Management System and policies.

Water Quality and Quantity

  • Implementation of a Sediment and Erosion Control Plan throughout repair.
  • All disturbed areas will be miminimzed to the extent possible and stablized with appropriate cover.
  • All near water works will be conducted in the dry with appropriate erosion and sedminent controls.
  • No crossing of water way is required. All work to be undertaken on the roadway
  • Implementation of a Spills Response Plan.

Site Restoration

  • Area will be restored to existing conditions or better.

The Greater Toronto Airports Authority is satisfied that the carrying out of the project is not likely to cause significant adverse environmental effects.

Therefore, the Greater Toronto Airports Authority may carry out the project, exercise any power, perform any duty or function, or provide financial assistance to enable the project to be carried out in whole or in part.
