The Proposed Project

The Department of National Defence (DND) has proposed a project. The present project consists of carrying out the work as well as providing the labor, materials, and tools necessary for the repair and improvement of the intersection of Route 170 and Chemin des Pics. Indeed, numerous ongoing and upcoming construction sites in the 3rd Wing Canadian Forces Base Bagotville area are generating a considerable increase in heavy traffic in this sector. The current configuration of this access road is not designed to support such an increase, which could pose safety risks for users. The main works include, among other things, clearing trees approximately 10 meters on each side of Chemin des Pics, repairing the culvert, widening Chemin des Pics over a section of approximately 175 meters to reach a width of 27 meters, relocating a fence, reconfiguring the ditches along the road, and adding a traffic light at the intersection. Excavation and backfilling work will be necessary as part of the project. The volume of excavated soil is estimated at approximately 3270 , and approximately 3643 of backfill materials will be imported to the site. The excavated soils will be managed according to their environmental quality and disposed of in accordance with applicable regulations at sites authorized by regulatory authorities.
