The Proposed Project

Standing Buffalo Datoka Nation is planning to construct a new Youth Centre to support the growing community and support programming that addresses community-based mental health and well-being concerns. The proposed site for the Youth Centre is approximately 3 km north of the existing Standing Buffalo School, and is adjacent to existing services such as sanitary and water. The Youth Centre will include office space for prevention workers, venue(s) for primary prevention programming (e.g. cultural activities for youth, after school sports programs), venue(s) for secondary prevention programming (e.g. family counseling, parenting classes, and other support services). The project will include the construction of a two story building, gravel parking lot and approach road, as well as installation of new power service, natural gas service, water service, and a septic tank.
