The Proposed Project
Fisheries and Oceans Canada - Small Craft Harbours are responsible for maintaining a safe and accessible harbours. The existing timber wall and timber crib along the shoreline at Pefferlaw Harbour are deteriorating and damaged and are in need of restoration in order to maintain a safe and functioning harbour.
Fisheries and Oceans Canada – Small Craft Harbours are proposing to install new armour stone along a 100 m section of the channel to support an existing timber wall structure. The armour stone will also be placed on and around an existing timber crib structure. This project will involve in-water placement of stone. Native plants and trees may be placed in amongst the armour stone along the top of the timber and rock structure.
It is anticipated that the contractors will use heavy equipment, likely excavator(s), rock truck and or a barge, to place the materials along the existing timber wall. The construction of a temporary access road may be needed based on the contractors preference.
