September 23, 2024 – Global Affairs Canada must determine whether the proposed Strengthening Sexual and Reproductive Health (PLURIELLES) project, to be implemented in Benin, Burkina Faso, and Mali, is likely to cause significant adverse environmental effects.

To help inform this determination, Global Affairs Canada is inviting comments from the public respecting that determination. All comments received will be considered public. The Proposed Project

Project Title: Strengthening Sexual and Reproductive Health (PLURIELLES)

Project Summary: The Strengthening Sexual and Reproductive Health (PLURIELLES) project is funded by the Canadian government through Global Affairs Canada and implemented by Santé Monde in partnership with Avocats sans frontières Canada (ASFC) and the Société de coopération pour le développement international (SOCODEVI).

This project aims to improve sexual and reproductive health services offered to vulnerable adolescents and women in Benin, Burkina Faso, and Mali. In this context, rehabilitation and construction work, including water, hygiene, and sanitation infrastructure, is planned in 20 health facilities in Benin, 21 in Burkina Faso, and 20 in Mali. The main physical works include the rehabilitation of maternity and clinic buildings; construction of wash areas and shelters; construction/rehabilitation of latrines and showers, water tanks, waste disposal sites, septic tanks, and incinerators adjacent to the health facilities.
