The Proposed Project
The Department of National Defence (DND) has proposed a project. This project involves work execution as well as labour supply, materials and tools required to construct a new 12-floor building which will include messes, a kitchen with dining room and 200 housing units to support the 2 and 3 Wing staff of Canadian Forces Base (CFB) Bagotville. The project also includes work to develop a 16,200 m² parking area, excavate contaminated soil, import backfill material and finally, demolish seven (7) obsolete buildings. The uses associated with the buildings to be demolished are administrative, catering and housing. The volume of excavation and backfill work is currently unknown, and the new building is expected to be Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) silver certified.
