Mont-Tremblant weather station upgrade
The authority has determined that the project to update the Mont-Tremblant weather station is not likely to cause significant negative environmental effects. Mitigation measures: - Do not deforest during the bird nesting period (mid-April to the end of August) - Before the work, a qualified person will identify if there are great woodpecker nesting cavities on the site. If this is the case, take the necessary measures to avoid destroying Great Woodpecker nests and ensure that you comply with the regulations in force. - Before the work, a qualified person will determine if EFEE appearing on the List of Priority Invasive Alien Floristic Species (MELCCFP) are observed in the work area. Where applicable, individuals will be identified and visible protection zones of at least 2 m around the EFEEs will be established. If it is impossible to avoid EFEE, the machinery that has been in contact with these species will be inspected and cleaned before resuming work in an area free of EFEE. - If there is bare soil following the work, the bare surfaces will be sown as soon as the work is completed to promote rapid plant recovery and limit the establishment of EFEEs.
- Respect of the area demarcated for the work - The machinery will travel on existing paths. - In the event of the presence of the wood turtle (threatened species under the Endangered Species Act) on the site, stop the work and wait until the individual is out of the work zone before resuming work. - Water from washing concrete mixers cannot be discharged into the rainwater or sanitary network. To this end, install a filtering settling basin of sufficient size depending on the quantities of washing water to be treated. Install a geotextile at the bottom of the pool which lets water infiltrate and retains fine particles. Recover solid concrete and particle waste collected on the geotextile and dispose of it as inert waste in compliance with provincial and federal regulations.
- In order to limit the emission of exhaust gases, the equipment must not be running when it is not in operation. Vehicle movements should, as far as possible, be limited to a minimum. Engine idling should be restricted. - Use clean equipment in good working order. Maintenance must be done before arriving at the site. - A recovery kit must also be available in or near the equipment. The kits must contain sufficient material considering the nature of the potentially accidental activities carried out on site. In the event of an accidental spill, the leak will be adequately managed and reported quickly to the National Environmental Emergencies Center (CNUE) of ECCC as well as to the MELCCFP. Promote the reuse and recycling of dismantled, uncontaminated or surplus materials. - Construction waste and debris will be managed off-site in facilities authorized to receive them. - The site supervisor, present at all times on the site during the work, will continuously carry out visual inspections of the entire site to ensure that no waste or debris is left there. Waste and debris must be placed in the storage area.
