The Proposed Project

Kawacatoose First Nation is proposing a water treatment plant expansion and upgrade. The existing water treatment plant building will be expanded on the northwest side to house three new filter tanks, the electrical room and generator, and on the northeast side to accommodate a new office, washroom and bottle fill room. A new roof will be built over the existing water treatment plant and planned expansion, and a new overhead door will be installed. Existing pumping equipment will be removed and replaced with upgraded equipment, and existing electrical, power, and gas services and telecommunications will be upgraded to accommodate the new equipment in the WTP expansion as necessary. The upgraded treatment system will be sized to meet the 10-year maximum daily treated water demand.

Site preparation will include topsoil stripping, grading, and relocation of utilities. Construction activities will include drilling and installation of new water wells, installation of new underground water lines and a new sanitary line, installation of an expanded concrete foundation, including columns, footings and reservoir, construction of the building superstructure, and installation of mechanical and electrical components.
