January 25, 2024 – Global Affairs Canada must determine whether the project Construction and rehabilitation of infrastructure to improve the capabilities of the Haitian National Police located in à Port-au-Prince, Tabarre, Delmas, Pétion, Croix-de Bouquet is likely to cause significant adverse environmental effects.
To help inform this determination, Global Affairs Canada is inviting comments from the public respecting that determination. . All comments received will be considered public. The Proposed Project
This project aims to improve public security in Haiti by having an impact on homicide and kidnapping rates, as well as on the level of annual victimization and feelings of insecurity. This project is a Canadian contribution to the United Nations Multi-Donor Trust Fund for Security. To improve the capacity of the Haitian National Police, the project will rehabilitate and secure seven police stations and the national police academy in Haiti. Works include: the construction of additional dormitories to accommodate more learners, the rehabilitation of sanitary blocks, the rehabilitation of the electrical system, tiling, the installation of a photovoltaic system, the rehabilitation and reinforcement of fencing and general painting.

Locations: Port-au-Prince, Tabarre, Delmas, Pétion-ville and Croix-de-Bouquet.
