The Proposed Project

The Department of National Defence (DND) has proposed a project. The work mainly consists of removing the bridge, which became unstable following the sudden flood of December 6, 2022. Currently, the abutment on the north/east bank has been partially washed away by the flood. This situation has the effect of having weakened the support of the bridge beams, making it unstable and generating the risk of unexpected movement. For the security of the premises, the users and the normal flow of the watercourse, we wish to move the structure to land adjacent to the site. Following the work of transferring the structure, we believe it is preferable to recover the section of the gabion wall which provided protection for the abutment damaged during the flood and which tipped over into the river. Considering the obstacle that it creates in the watercourse, we believe that it would be important to proceed with the dismantling of the gabion and the disposal of the elements that could create a restriction to the normal flow of the watercourse.
