Construction of 7 incinerators in the health districts of Ouangolodougou, Kong and Ferkessédougou in the Tchologo Region of Ivory Coast

Ottawa – November 15, 2022 – Global Affairs Canada has determined that the
proposed Construction of 7 incinerators in the health districts of Ouangolodougou, Kong and Ferkessédougou in the Tchologo Region, Ivory Coast is not likely to cause significant adverse environmental effects.
This determination was based on a consideration of the following factors:
- Technically and economically feasible mitigation measures.
Mitigation measures taken into account for this determination are:

- Identification of environmental risks and opportunities of planned construction;
- Reducing the risks and nuisances associated with the work;
- Ensure optimal and safe use of the biomedical waste incineration process;
- Strengthen the capacity of health personnel on the use, operation, and efficient management of biomedical waste, the management of incinerators and the proper maintenance of sanitary facilities.
Global Affairs Canada is satisfied that that the carrying out of the project is not likely to cause significant adverse environmental effects.
Therefore, Global Affairs Canada may carry out the project, exercise any power, perform any duty or function, or provide financial assistance to enable the project to be carried out in whole or in part.
