The Proposed Project

The Department of National Defence (DND) has proposed to improve the building envelope at building D193 at His Majesty's Canadian Dockyard. To improve air/weather tightness and energy efficiency of D193, a building envelope replacement is proposed. Existing building envelope assemblies will be removed to existing structural elements and new assemblies will be installed. The proposed assemblies will meet the prescriptive requirements of the National Energy Code for Buildings. Project activities include repairing delaminated concrete of exterior grade beams and concrete pads, replacing wall and soffit building envelope assemblies, replacing existing roof systems with a new conventional 2-ply modified bitumen roof assembly, replacement of all windows and doors, maintenance painting of miscellaneous metals (e.g., bollards, chain-link enclosure, mechanical equipment supports, signalling masts), addition of galvanized steel fixed roof ladders, and addition of canopies at the north and south entrances.
