Magnetawan First Nation Water Treatment Plant and Storage Upgrades Project – Public Comments Invited

October 18, 2022 – Indigenous Services Canada must determine whether the proposed Water Treatment Plant and Storage Upgrades Project, located in Magnetawan First Nation is likely to cause significant adverse environmental effects.

To help inform this determination, Indigenous Services Canada is inviting comments from the public respecting that determination. All comments received will be considered public and may be posted online. For more information, individuals should consult the Privacy Notice on the Registry website.

The Proposed Project

Magnetawan First Nation is proposing a Water Treatment Plant and Storage Upgrades Project at their community. The proposed physical activities for the project will include: site preparation; replacement of intake structures at the Magnetawan River; upgrades to the existing low lift pump; construction of the Water Treatment Plant (WTP) and storage reservoir on a developed lot; upsizing of the existing watermain; decommissioning of treatment equipment inside the existing WTP (without demolition); and site restoration.
