Notice of intent to make a determination

Thunderchild First Nation - Turtle Lake Site 115C WTP Process Waste Pond - Public Comments Invited

September 28, 2022 - Indigenous Services Canada must determine whether the proposed Thunderchild First Nation - Turtle Lake Site 115C WTP Process Waste Pond, located on Thunderchild IR115C, is likely to cause significant adverse environmental effects. To help inform this determination, Indigenous Services Canada is inviting comments from the public respecting that determination.

The Proposed Project

- Construction of a 5,520 cu.m. concentrate waste pond / evaporation cell, HDPE liner, sand liner cover, related structures and piping on NE 31-53-18-W3M;
- Installation of approx. 190 lin.m. of 75 mm dia. concentrate force main;
- Installation of a concentrate pumping station and tie-ins to the existing drain lines at the existing WTP;
- Miscellaneous infrastructure upgrades, decommissionings and site fencing;
- Construction of a new access road and truck turnaround;
- Provision of roads for ingress and egress to the location of all work required;
- Clean up of site; and 
- Repair of defects for one year after completion of the work.
