New Dock Installation 4776 Eastridge Road – Public comments invited 

August 4, 2022 - As part of its Project and Environmental Review process, the Vancouver Fraser Port Authority must determine whether the proposed New Dock Installation 4776 Eastridge Road, located at 4776 Eastridge Road North Vancouver , B.C., are likely to cause significant adverse environmental effects. Written comments to be received by September 2, 2022

To help inform this determination and a decision on whether or not to approve the proposed project, the Vancouver Fraser Port Authority is inviting comments from the public respecting that determination. All comments received will be considered public and may be posted online.  For more information, individuals should consult the Privacy Notice on the Registry website. In addition, your contact information may be shared with third parties, e.g., the tenant, other relevant agencies, to help respond to your questions and inform possible mitigations.

The proposed project 

The proposed Project is for an installation of a new recreational dock at 4776 Eastridge Road, North Vancouver, B.C. 

The proposed dock includes the following features: 

  • Approximately 2.5 square metre concrete abutment on bedrock (upland) consisting of two rock pins to support and connect to the aluminum trestle. 
  • Approximately 9 metre long by 1.8 metre wide aluminum trestle (between abutment and gangway) along foreshore to be supported by two 356mm in diameter steel piles that will be fixed to a concrete footing at their bases. 
  • Approximately 18 metre long by 1.8 metre wide aluminum gangway that is supported by the steel piles and connects the trestle with the moorage float. 
  • Approximately 30 square metre moorage float (dock) on the water 

The fixed dock and access ramp will be welded aluminum structures that are fabricated off-site and delivered by barge. The moorage float will comprise of a timber substructure and the deck will be made of polystyrene floatation billets with a polyurethane elastometric coating. The float will also be fabricated offsite and delivered by barge. 

The project involves the installation of two steel posts mounted on a concrete footing in the upper intertidal zone. The posts will be drilled in using hand tools as no pile driving is required for the project. 

Should the Project Permit be approved, construction would begin shortly thereafter and take approximately two months to complete.
