Rocky Point Jetty Repairs – Canadian Forces Base (CFB) Esquimalt

July 1, 2022 — The Department of National Defence must decide whether the proposed project is likely to cause significant adverse environmental effects.

To help inform this decision, the Department of National Defence is inviting comments from the public on the project and its potential effects on the environment. All comments received will be considered public. For more information, individuals should consult the Privacy Notice on the Registry website.

The Proposed Project

The Department of National Defence (DND) has proposed a project which will involve repairs to the Rocky Point Jetty and adjacent float. Jetty repairs will include power washing of topside components, replacement of topside timber guards, resurfacing on bollards, cleats and bull rails, repairing concrete caps and deck panels, replacing fender pile metal flashing caps, filling bolt holes on fender chocks, replacing 7 wood fender piles, removing broken wood fender pile, and replacing chains and ladders. Adjacent float repairs will include power washing gangway and float deck, replacing steel rollers guide angles, replacing metal mooring hoop and bull rail, repairing coating on steel mooring piles and replacing rub strips on piles and pile wells.
