The Proposed Project

Whitby Harbour is located along the north shore of Lake Ontario in the Town of Whitby. Due to silting primarily from the Pringle Creek, maintenance dredging is required on a regular basis in order to maintain minimum water levels for the navigation of recreational and commercial vessels within the harbour. The last maintenance dredging of the harbor occurred in 2020.

The Town of Whitby is proposing to undertake maintenance dredging project in Whitby Harbour in Fall 2022. Hydraulic Dredging will take place over six (6) weeks within Whitby Marina and the Whitby Yacht Club areas of the harbour. Within the Whitby Marina area, approximately 6700 cubic metres willl be dredged. Within the Whitby Yacht Club area, approximately 1200 cubic metres will be dredged. The disposal of dredge materials is proposed in a Provincially-approved Confined Disposal Facility (CDF) located west of the harbour.
