Above ground demolition – former Hammond mill – Public comments invited
June 16, 2022 – As part of its Project and Environmental Review process, the Vancouver Fraser Port Authority must determine whether the proposed Above ground demolition – former Hammond mill, located at 20580 Maple Crescent, Maple Ridge BC are likely to cause significant adverse environmental effects. Written comments to be received by July 15, 2022.
To help inform this determination and a decision on whether or not to approve the proposed project, the Vancouver Fraser Port Authority is inviting comments from the public respecting that determination. All comments received will be considered public and may be posted online. For more information, individuals should consult the Privacy Notice on the Registry website. In addition, your contact information may be shared with third parties, e.g., the tenant, other relevant agencies, to help respond to your questions and inform possible mitigations.

The proposed project
Conwest proposes non intrusive, above ground demolition of certain structures located on the land and water areas fronting the site. These structures currently pose a risk to life and safety and are at risk of vandalism and theft. Proposed for removal are parts of the large building, conveyors and supports located on port authority lease areas. There is no ground disturbance proposed in this application.
Some of the structure straddle the property line. To coordinate this, the applicant has received a demolition permit from Maple Ridge.
