Pelee Island Dock Replacement – Public Comments Invited

April 19, 2022 – Fisheries and Oceans Canada Small Craft Harbours branch and Transport Canada must determine whether the proposed Pelee Island Dock Replacement located on Pelee Island, ON  is likely to cause significant adverse environmental effects.

To help inform this determination, Fisheries and Oceans Canada, Small Craft Harbours Branch is inviting comments from the public respecting that determination. All comments received will be considered public. For more information, individuals should consult the Privacy Notice on the Registry website.

The Proposed Project

The Township of Pelee intends to complete upgrades to Pelee Island Small Craft Harbour, located on federal lands at the north end of Pelee Island. The proposed upgrades include: 

  • Removal of existing center float string
  • Installation of new access ramp
  • Installation of all new floats and achoring system
  • Installation of new bollards on each float

The float configuration is staying in roughly the same position as existing however the overall length has increased slightly by 7m and width by 1m. 

Fisheries and Oceans Canada and Transport Canada intend to make a determination regarding whether the carrying out of this project is likely to cause significant adverse environmental effects.
