The Proposed Project

Fisheries and Oceans Canada's Small Craft Harbours (SCH) intends to construct a new harbour at Hollow Water, MB located on the eastern shore of Lake Winnipeg. SCH intends to build and maintain the harbour site to support the local commercial fishing industry, with the help of a local volunteer group consisting of community members, called Harbour Authorities (HA). The project site is located within the Hollow Water First Nation and will be built to serve and support the local community's needs.

The current infrastructure on site was built in the 1950s and has significantly deteriorated and in need of reconstruction. The proposed design, optimized based on community feedback, includes all new launch ramp, crib and span wharf, and two float wharves. This Harbour Construction project will also include removal of the existing deteriorated cribs, site clean-up and localized dredging. The project is anticipated to begin in Winter 2022/23 with completion by Spring 2023.
