Public Comment Period on Intent to Make a Determination

December 8, 2021 — The Department of National Defence must decide whether the proposed project is likely to cause significant adverse environmental effects.

To help inform this decision, the Department of National Defence is inviting comments from the public on the project and its potential effects on the environment. All comments received will be considered public. For more information, individuals should consult the Privacy Notice on the Registry website.

The Proposed Project

The Canadian Task Force on Operation IMPACT in Kuwait will upgrade the power distribution network at Camp Canada. This will include the construction of a Primary Distribution Unit, Secondary Distribution Unit , and Tertiary Distribution Unit, the installation of the electrical distribution lines necessary to tie into the existing power grids. All of this will require excavation and preparation of the ground for trenches and cable runs.
