Notice of Determination

Prairie National Wildlife Area 21 October 2021 Environment and Climate Change Canada's Canadian Wildlife Service has determined that the proposed Prairie National Wildlife Area Units 25 and 26 Natural Gas Well Abandonment Project is not likely to cause significant adverse environmental effects.

This determination was based on a consideration of the following factors:

  • input provided by provincial and federal regulatory bodies;
  • input provided by the Metis Nation – Saskatchewan Ministry of the Environment
  • technically and economically feasible mitigation measures.

Mitigation measures will be implemented on site to reduce impacts to wildlife and wildlife habitat, migratory birds, and species at risk.

Environment and Climate Change Canada's Canadian Wildlife Service is satisfied that that the carrying out of the project is not likely to cause significant adverse environmental effects.

Therefore, Environment and Climate Change Canada's Canadian Wildlife Service may carry out the project, exercise any power, perform any duty or function, or provide financial assistance to enable the project to be carried out in whole or in part.
