Notice of determination

2021-07-19– Fisheries and Oceans Canada and Indigenous Services Canada have determined that the proposed Stabilization and Protection of the Mingan River Bank is not likely to cause significant adverse environmental effects

 

The determination was based on a consideration of the following factors:

  • - impact on the rights of indigenous peoples;
  • - indigenous knowledge;
  • - technically and economically feasible mitigation measures;
  • - carrying-out of compensatory works.

 

Implementation of mitigation measures is required for the project to address:

  • - Protection of species at risk
  • - Protection of migratory birds
  • - Surface water protection
  • - Groundwater protection
  • - Fish Habitat Protection
  • - Soil protection
  • - Air protection
  • - Well-being and safety of the population
  • - Wildlife protection
  • - Flora protection
  • - Carrying-out compensatory works – fish habitat

 

Fisheries and Oceans Canada and Indigenous Services Canada are satisfied that that the carrying out of the project is not likely to cause significant adverse environmental effects.

 

Therefore,  Fisheries and Oceans Canada and Indigenous Services Canada may carry out the project, exercise any power, perform any duty or function, or provide financial assistance to enable the project to be carried out in whole or in part.
