Notice of determination for the Grasswoods Reserve Septage Receiving Station, Retention Pond and Final Disposal to City of Saskatoon Forcemain

July 13, 2021 - Indigenous Services Canada has determined that the proposed Grasswoods Reserve Septage Receiving Station, Retention Pond and Final Disposal to City of Saskatoon Forcemain is not likely to cause significant adverse environmental effects.

The determination was based on a consideration of the following factors:

-this project will provide continued revenue, employment and training opportunities for members of the English River First Nation community
-by BCR the English River First Nation requested issuance of a lease for these lands
-no public comments were received
-mitigation measures are required

Proposed mitigation measures:

-all elements of the project comply with the provincial design standards for waste water projects
-qualified operator will be on-site
-controlled access to the septage receiving station, testing on-site along with pre-holding tank
-adherence to recommended setbacks
-thickened sludge will be disposed of at an approved facility
-the operation will be in compliance with all applicable Federal Regulations

Indigenous Services Canada is satisfied that the carrying out of the project is not likely to cause significant adverse environmental effects.
