The Proposed Project

The Department of National Defence (DND) is proposing to install a new security fence along the northern, western and southern property boundaries of the Canadian Forces Naval Engineering School Damage Control Division property, located off John Brackett Drive (Hwy 253), Herring Cove, NS. Project activities are expected to include the removal of existing fencing and gates along John Brackett Drive, installation of new fencing and gates, and vegetation removal. Approximately 1,600 metres (m) of new fencing will be installed. The new fence will be 3 m high, chain link with 3 strands of barbed wire. Vegetation removal is proposed within 5 m of each side of the new fence (approximately 16,000 square metres vegetation clearing in total). Proposed project activities are expected to begin in Fall 2021.
