Notice of Time Limit Suspension with Reasons

Ottawa — June 30, 2021 — On June 25, 2021, the Impact Assessment Agency of Canada (the Agency) suspended the 180-day time limit for the Planning Phase under the Impact Assessment Act for the Phase I Vista Test Underground Mine and Vista Mine Phase II Expansion Projects (the Projects), proposed by Coalspur Mines (Operations) Ltd. (the proponent).

The Agency has taken this action further to a written request from the proponent that the time limit be suspended in order that it may have sufficient time to provide the Agency with:

  • how it intends to address the issues referred to in the Summary of Issues that was provided to the proponent on June 4, 2021; and
  • a detailed description of the Projects that includes the information prescribed by the Information and Management of Time Limits Regulations.

When the Agency accepts the response to the Summary of Issues and a detailed description of the Projects, the Agency will post a notice that the prescribed activity is completed and the 180-day time limit will resume.
