Public Comment Period on Intent to Make a Determination
North Creek Trail Realignment

May 27, 2021 — The Department of National Defence must decide whether the proposed project is likely to cause significant adverse environmental effects.

To help inform this decision, the Department of National Defence is inviting comments from the public on the project and its potential effects on the environment. All comments received will be considered public. For more information, individuals should consult the Privacy Notice on the Registry website.

The Proposed Project

The Department of National Defence (DND) has proposed a project which involves the creation of a new route. The Brightwater creek runs through 17 Wing Detachment Dundurn's Range and Training Area. The Range's North Creek Trail runs parallel with the creek. Due to erosion a portion trail has fallen away resulting in safety concerns. The proposed project would run north of the affected area, thereby bypassing the eroded area. An estimated 400m trail will connect the two section of trail of North Creek trail.
