Abegweit Watermain Upgrades – Public Comments Invited

May 20, 2021 – Indigenous Services Canada must determine whether the proposed Abegweit Watermain Upgrades, located in Scotchfort and Morell, PEI is likely to cause significant adverse environmental effects. To help inform this determination, Indigenous Services Canada is inviting comments from the public respecting that determination.

The Proposed Project

Replacement and extension of water distribution system and service at three locations, two at the Scotchfort reserve and one at Morell reserve.  Works includes:

  • excavation of trenches along the side of the existing street right of way to install watermain pipe (approximately 760m) for 12 homes within the area of Kitpu Street in the Scotchfort reserve
  • excavation of trenches along side of an existing street right of way and through grassed areas to install watermain pipe and services (approximately 1100m long) in the Scotchfort reserve.
  • excavation of trenches through grassed areas to install watermain pipe and services (approximately 460m long) in the Morell reserve.
