Notice of Determination for Cote First Nation Wood Treatment Remediation Project

May 19, 2021 - Indigenous Services Canada has determined that the proposed Cote First Nation Wood Treatment Remediation Project is not likely to cause significant adverse environmental effects.

The determination was based on a consideration of the following factors:

-a Band Council Resolution from Cote First Nation authorizing site access and remediation be completed

-the remediation will clean up the existing contamination identified in the Bioremediation report and Remedial Action Plan

-no comments were received from the public about the project

-mitigation measures are required for the project

Implementation of the following mitigation measures are required for the project:

-refueling practices to minimize possibility of spills. All spills must be reported to relevant federal, provincial and municipal government departments

-excavated materials will be hauled to a Class II landfill

-Site will be fenced off, and access restricted to authorized workers only with adequate training

Indigenous Services Canada is satisfied that the carrying out of the project is not likely to cause significant adverse environmental effects.
