Public Comment Period on Intent to Make a Determination
Breaching Range Development in Areas 7 and 8, Range and Training Area, Garrison Petawawa

May 12, 2021 — The Department of National Defence must decide whether the proposed project is likely to cause significant adverse environmental effects.

To help inform this decision, the Department of National Defence is inviting comments from the public on the project and its potential effects on the environment. All comments received will be considered public. For more information, individuals should consult the Privacy Notice on the Registry website.

The Proposed Project

The two training sites proposed for development will facilitate Canadian Armed Forces Explosive Forced Entry (EFE) breaching techniques. Each site will consist of a 100m x 25m elevated gravel pad and 3 foot by 8 foot high concrete walls which will divide the 100m pad at 25m increments. Each site will be surrounded by a 6 foot high chain link fence.
